My Approach

I don't believe in the hyper perfect, manufactured feeling photography style. Your wedding is a REAL day full of REAL emotions, special moments, and people, that's what I aim to capture. My style what I'd call curated documentary style, I'm not going to fake a bunch of moments (which happens so often in wedding photography) but I'll be there to frame the real ones, and use my artistic eye and sensibilities to do it.

But don't worry, I'm not going to leave you high and dry when it comes to things like bridal portraits and group shots. I'll give you all my years of expertise to help you look your best, and with some fun cues and direction we'll create some stunning authentic images together that you'll cherish for years to come.

I care about investing in my relationships with my couples and I love to build friendships with them. I never want to walk into a wedding day and have my bride or groom feel like a stranger just walked into the room, so I make it a priority to get to know who I'm working with before the big day, I love long get-to-know you chats over coffee, hearing your stories and learning about what's most important to you.

I'm Sarah Thomas, I'm a fine art wedding and couples photographer based out of Virginia, servicing the Hampton Roads area, DC/ Richmond area, the Outer banks and beyond.

I've been in the photography game for over 10 years now, after shooting so many weddings I've had the chance to narrow down my style and approach to create work that I'm proud of and my couples to love for years to come. My Faith

My love for Jesus is the most important thing about me, it influences everything I do. I believe that being creative is a major reflection of the greatest creator (God) so making beautiful things is such a special part ofo my life.

Authenticity

I don't believe in faking it, I think that true beauty comes from authentically and unapologetically being yourself. When people see my photos I don't want them to see cookie cutter faked perfection, I want them to see themselves as truly known and loved, I want them to see the beauty in their own REAL story.

Connection with others

I'm an extrovert, I thrive off of making genuine human connections. In my mind if my clients don't feel like my friends throughout the experience I haven't done my job right. I'm not here to push a few buttons, edit a few photos and leave, I'm here to laugh, cry, and celebrate alongside my couples.

As much as I love to work with a plan, I've learned the best way to go through life (and photo shoots) is with the attitude that rolling with the changes and getting creative is all part of the process. I pride myself on serving well by being flexible and easygoing, having fun all the while.
